OK
WE ARE SO LATE ON THIS TRIP REPORT, BUT WE HAVE BEEN RUNNING EVER SINCE WE GOT
HOME.
WHEN
LOOKING FOR A VACATION WE TRY TO FIND SOMETHING THAT MEETS OUR “ NEEDS” AT
THAT TIME…HIGH ADVENTURE, PARTY PARTY PARTY, OR LOW KEY RELAXATION. LORETO WAS
JUST WHAT WE NEEDED THIS TIME…LOW KEY SECLUDED PEACE AND QUIET.
WE
WERE VERY EXCITED WHEN OUR PLANE FLEW INTO THOSE BEAUTIFUL DESERT MOUNTAINS WITH
NOTHING AROUND BUT CACTUS AND A TINY GRASS ROOF AIRPORT!
THE
GREETING AT THE RESORT WAS GREAT…TROPICAL DRINKS HANDED TO US AS SOON AS WE
DEPARTED THE BUS. THE CHECK IN PROCESS WAS PAINLESS, AND THANKS TO TOM AND
ELAINE WE WERE HANDED A PACKAGE THAT HAD WATER FLOATS FOR US TO USE.
I
MUST ADMIT THAT LORETO WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED… IT WAS BETTER.
BEAUTIFUL
GROUNDS, SCENIC MOUNTAINS SURROUNDING THE RESORT AND A VERY RESTFUL ATMOSPHERE.
OUR ROOM WAS 312 WITH A VIEW OF THE MOUNTAINS, POOL, AND STAGE. WE SAT ON OUR
BALCONY AT NIGHT AND WATCHED THE ENTERTAINMENT. WAKING UP IN THE MORNING AND
SEEING THE SUN LIGHT UP THOSE BEAUTIFUL DESERT MOUNTAINS WAS A TREAT. THE SUN
SETS WERE EVEN BETTER. MOTHER NATURE AT HER FINEST…
THE
ONLY THING ABOUT THIS PLACE I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN WAS THE FOOD. YOU WOULD THINK
THAT BEING IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD THE MEXICAN FOOD WOULD BE GOOD…NOT! I
GUESS BEING FROM TEXAS WE ARE SPOILED TO REALLY GOOD MEXICAN CUISINE. TERESA’S
GRILLED FISH TACOS WERE REALLY A TREAT AND THE ITIALAN RESTAURANT HAD A
WONDERFUL RED CLAM SAUCE. (I KNOW THE GENERAL MANAGER IS FROM ITALY, AND I’M
SURE THIS IS WHY THE ITALIAN CUISINE WAS SO VERY GOOD)
MY
HUSBAND, TERRY, REALLY SURPRISED ME AT THE CO BEACH, HE DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM
GETTING INTO THE “SWING OF THINGS” IT TOOK ME A LITTLE LONGER…ABOUT AN
HOUR (HEHEHE)
IT
WAS GREAT!! I LOVE TO SUN BATH IN THE BUFF! TALK ABOUT A GREAT TAN!
THE
CO BEACH WAS VERY QUIET AND FRIENDLY, IT REALLY IS NO BIG DEAL AND NOW I HAVE
THE PROBLEM OF WEARING A SWIM SUIT, IT FEELS TOO CONFINING AND RESTRICTIVE. OF
COURSE WE PUT ON A WRAP OR TOWEL TO GET A DRINK OR WHAT EVER… AS MOST PEOPLE
DO JUST TO SHOW RESPECT TO ARMANDO THE BEST BARTENDER IN THE RESORT.
OUR
DAYS WERE SPENT ON THE CO BEACH, TANNING, EATING, DRINKING, RELAXING AND OF
COURSE WATCHING THE HERD OF PELICANS DOING THEIR 360 DIVES INTO THE COVE. I
FOUND THE PELICANS TO BE THE MOST INTERESTING FORMS OF LIFE ON THE BEACH. THERE
WAS ONLY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE ON THE CO BEACH AND EVERYONE PRETTY MUCH STAYED TO
THEMSELVES. THIS WAS NICE, BECAUSE WE WERE NEEDING TIME ALONE TOGETHER ON
“THIS” TRIP AND LORETO WAS WHAT THE DOC ORDERED. I NOTICED THAT IF WE WERE
WANTING TO SOCIALIZE MORE WE COULD HAVE VERY EASILY WITH THE COUPLES THAT WE
MEET THERE. EVERYONE THAT WE MEET WAS WONDERFUL.
I
LOVE TO SNORKEL!!! OUR TRIP TO CORONADO ISLAND WAS GREAT. WE LEFT AT 9 THAT
MORNING ON A “ LITTLE BOAT” WITH ANOTHER COUPLE AND WENT UP THE COAST TOWARD
CORONADO ISLAND WHICH WE COULD SEE IN THE DISTANCE AS A MOUNTAIN ARISING FROM
THE SEA OF CORTEZ. ALONG THE WAY OUR DRIVER STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEA
NEAR SOME LOCAL CLAM DIVERS AND AFTER GIVING THE DIVER A FEW PESOS WE LOADED A
BAG OF FRESH CLAMS INTO OUR BOAT AND HEADED OUT. VERY COOL, KIND OF LIKE DRIVE
THROUGH FOR TAKE-OUT LUNCH! THE BEACH AT THE ISLAND WAS WHITE SAND AND THE WATER
WAS EMERALD GREEN, AWESOME. WE WERE SURPRISED THAT THE WATER TEMP FELT LIKE 30
DEGREES BELOW O. THAT TOOK SOME GETTING USED TO, ABOUT 30 MINUTES STANDING IN
THIGH DEEP WATER WAITING FOR NUMBNESS AND SHOCK TO SUBSIDE BEFORE PLUNGING IN.
TERRY NEVER COULD BRING HIMSELF TO JUMP IN AFTER WATCHING ME TURN BLUE AND
LOSING MY BREATH AFTER I TOOK THE PLUNGE. YES I AM CRAZY, BUT LIKE I SAID, I
LOVE TO SNORKEL! IT WAS WORTH IT. THIS DEFINITELY WAS NOT THE CARIBBEAN. THERE
WAS OCTOPUS, AND VERY BEAUTIFUL STRANGE LOOKING FISH AND SHELLS ALL AROUND. I
WAS VERY EXCITED WHEN I CAME UP TO A BLOW FISH WHO WAS AS INTERESTED IN ME AS I
WAS HIM. I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT I WAS STALKED BY A BLOW FISH. BEING THE ONLY
ONE OUT THERE, I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE INTENTIONS OF MR BLOW FISH, BUT THEN I
REALIZED HE WAS CONTENT TO STAY IN MY SHADOW ABOUT 2 FEET BELOW ME.
I
WONDER WHAT HE TASTES LIKE?
BACK
ON THE BEACH OUR BOAT DRIVER WAS SMOKING FRESH CLAMS AND DORADO OVER AN OPEN PIT
FIRE FOR LUNCH. NOW THAT WAS GREAT! FISH TACOS, FRESHLY MADE PICANTE, AND FRESH
CLAMS. BEST I EVER HAD. THERE WAS ALSO A COOLER OF BEER, WATER AND SODAS.
ANOTHER BOAT PULLED UP TO THE BEACH WITH A COUPLE OF FISHERMEN AND THEIR CATCH.
WOW, THOSE DORADO BEAT THE HELL OUT OF MY 7LB BIG MOUTH BASS I BRAG ABOUT. MUST
FISH NEXT TIME!
ALL
IN ALL WE ENJOYED THIS TRIP SO MUCH THAT WE WILL RETURN EVERY CHANCE WE CAN.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL US. ON A SCALE OF
1-10 LORETO IS AN 8!
